I feel myself good in Újpest, the game is going well – NBI and national team goals – we talked with Máté György Tóth

"This season I play for two teams at the same time, my age group, U19 and NBIII. In the NBIII we started well – and we continued well – and so far we have had a really good season. Unfortunately, this is less the case in U19. We made a lot of mistakes in the games, but in the last few meetings, in the spring rounds, we showed a much better game on the pitch, so we are starting to catch up.

"In the NBIII team, I have the opportunity to train with the others all the time, my coach counts on me fully in every match, but because of the players playing back, I have not had the opportunity to prove myself in a competitive match on the pitch in the spring. However, in Újpest's youth team, U19, I can play through the matches as a regular player, so I can be in constant match shape and thanks to this the game goes very well. As soon as I have the opportunity to prove myself in NBIII, I will take the opportunity. We have to perform every game at 110% and every player has to give their best to win. Personally, I'm at my best this season and I'm doing everything I can to have the best season possible with the team."

Regarding his future, Máté said that he has settled in well with the purple and whites, so he has no plans to make a switch in the 2024/2025 league season: "I feel very good in Újpest, everything is given for my development here, I plan for the long term on County Road. I will do everything I can to earn through my performances that I will be counted on as a regular in the second team next year."

"I would like to get a professional contract in the near future, play as much as possible in NBIII so that I can get an opportunity in the NBI as soon as possible. Like any footballer, playing for the national team is one of my biggest dreams that I want to achieve through my performances throughout my career."

Speaking of the national team, we asked Máté what he expects from the Hungarian Football Team at this summer's European Championship: "I am definitely rooting for the hungarians at the European Championship. I hope the boys will make this summer memorable for us and I hope we finish as high as possible in the continental race."
